Series Overview

Closely-held businesses represent a significant portion of the U.S. economy. Based on ownership demographics, it is estimated that $10 trillion in closely-held business assets will transition by 2040; however, the vast majority of owners lack advisors to recommend and implement proactive transition strategies. In this series you will learn innovative approaches to implement your business strategy:

  • Maximize the value of your business;
  • Evaluate strategic options to grow, re-cap, or sell;
  • Develop and retain key employees;
  • Prepare for transfer or transition of ownership; and
  • Tax strategies and legacy planning.
Our four-part series will provide a deep analysis on the following topics:

March 14: Strategic Option Analysis
May 16: M&A Selling Process
September 12: Value Optimization and Pre-Transition Planning Tactics
November 14: Planning for Post-Transition/Transaction

May 16: M&A Selling Process

Successful sell-side transactions typically involve a rigorous process that begins long before a financial intermediary is engaged. This workshop is focused on building the timeline and milestones of a successful transaction including: pre-transaction personal and business tax and legal strategies; identifying, selecting and coordinating specialized advisors; building internal deal teams, external deal teams and an oversight team; developing and implementing a comprehensive M&A strategy; and addressing the complex personal issues that arise after a sale.
