Best Practices to Manage & Grow Your M&A Practice
The AM&AA has long been a proponent of quality education, offering its acclaimed CM&AA credentialing program. The Alliance’s Board encouraged expansion of the education program, resulting in the introduction of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Series (MAPS). Last summer at our conference in Chicago, we introduced the first of a series of new programs offered to enhance the existing curricula.
The first program in the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Series (MAPS) focuses on Best Practices to Manage & Grow Your M&A Practice. This program debuted to widespread acclaim at the conference, and in fact, was oversold. We will once again offer this program ahead of our Winter Conference in Miami this January. This educational track focuses on the development of processes; implementation of technologies; and the leverage of marketing tools and techniques necessary to build and manage a profitable M&A practice.
Robbinex was initially founded in 1974 as a sell-side broker. As the firm evolved, Robbinex began to focus on process (they are the only ISO 9001 Certified M&A firm in the world). Robbinex’ processes have evolved around an internal team of specialized professionals including CPA’s, Analysts, Researchers, Valuators, Brokers, an Engineer, and a Psychologist. Their circle of outside support is vast, including legal, environmental, software, IT, marketing, specialized consulting, and public relations. This team is currently supporting 2 affiliate offices. Today, the firm has completed more than 1,000 assignments mostly in the lower mid-market (Enterprise values $2.5 to $25M) including more than 400 sold assignments, and enjoys revenue from numerous activities arising from its process of understanding and serving potential clients’ real needs/issues.
